Resume Writing Tips

http://www.eresumewriting.com/darbinis2.html

I found this website by using google search.

“Nuts and Bolts of a Resume” and “Gather The Necessary Information Know thyself.”

Is what I have found the most useful tips for my resume in the future.

Under the “Nuts and Bolts of a Resume”
• Use specifics. A vague description of your duties will make only a vague impression.
• Identify accomplishments. If you headed a project, improved productivity, reduced costs, increased membership, or achieved some other goal, say so.
• Type your resume, using a standard typeface. (Printed resumes are becoming more common, but employers do not indicate a preference for them.)
• Keep the length down to two pages at the most.
• Remember your mother's advice not to say anything if you cannot say something nice. Leave all embarrassing or negative information off the resume--but be ready to deal with it in a positive fashion at the interview.
• Proofread the master copy carefully.
• Have someone else proofread the master copy carefully.
• Have a third person proofread the master copy carefully.
• Use the best quality photocopying machine and good white or off-white paper.

It helps me to well organize myself.

Under the “Gather The Necessary Information Know thyself.”

• Current address and phone number--if you are rarely at home during business hours, try to give the phone number of a friend or relative who will take messages for you.
• Job sought or career goal.
• Experience (paid and volunteer)--date of employment, name and full address of the employer, job title, starting and finishing salary, and reason for leaving (moving, returning to school, and seeking a better position are among the readily accepted reasons).
• Education--the school's name, the city in which it is located, the years you attended it, the diploma or certificate you earned, and the course of studies you pursued.
• Other qualifications--hobbies, organizations you belong to, honors you have received, and leadership positions you have held.
• Office machines, tools, and equipment you have used and skills that you possess.

I learned how to gather the information that will looks good on my paper, and what useful for me to be accepted.

My Job VS. the best job in 2010

http://bb.laguardia.edu/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp?tab=courses&url=/bin/common/course.pl?course_id=_6909_1

From this article, the first ten best jobs in 2010 is ACTUARY, SOFTWARE ENGINEER, COMPUTER SYSTEMS ANALYST, BIOLOGIST, HISTORIAN, MATHEMATICIAN, PARALEGAL ASSISTANT, STATISTICIAN, ACCOUNTANT, and DENTAL HYGIENIST.
The top level salaries of these jobs are from $91,000 to $161,000. On the other hand,

POLICE OFFICER $30,000 $51,000 $80,000

And

HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER $30,000 $51,000 $80,000

Are the two jobs that I like the most. However their rankings are 175 and 179. So I will ignore this stupid article and move on.
The first ten job seems to be well paid, but that's not my type. So i will ignore that also.

Tony in 10 years

The chapter two had taught me to describe myself in ways that will enable me to make good career choices. There are four personal identity database; Values, personality type, interest and skills.

In the activity 2.1, I was asked to draw and describe myself 10 years from present. Furthermore, the picture first off my brain was a tough guy is washing dishes after dinner, because my future wife needs to take shower for my 8 year old child. Moreover, I will build myself a garage for my car collections.

As a conclusion, Family is the most important stuff in my life, secondary is my career.

School vs Career

In chapter 1, I understood the “career dilemma is a term will be using in the book “Turning Points” to describe the tangled set of interrelated occupational and educational issues that you face.

Furthermore, I will like to talk about my career dilemma. Being a police officer is one of my dream jobs; nevertheless, the basic requirement of this job and to be appointed for an interview is having an A.S college degree. On the other hand, I never like school, and I m not an “A” student. However, I’m still young; I have to transform my hateful into my strength to accomplish my childhood dream.

Indeed, I m confident of my abilities. Both of my physically and psychologically will meet the requirement. “Earn my diploma and fight for my future” is my mission statement.
